Destination codes for manuals

Most of our service manuals, parts manuals and operation manuals are specific to particular countries or international regions. To enable easy identification, each area has its own code – known as its destination code – listed in the table below.

Destination codes are printed in the bottom left-hand corner of the back cover of each manual.

Often the destination code is followed by a letter or series of letters in brackets, identifying the language versions which have been produced. For example: SY (J, E) means that the manual is for Japan, USA, Canada and Continental Europe and it has been written in Japanese and English.

Please also note that destination codes are sometimes printed on the front cover, along with a list of serial number ranges. If the manual covers a large number of models/serial numbers, this information will be found on the next page.

What's an AEP model? (Sony)

My STR-V6 is the AEP model, not US or UK.

What does AEP mean?

My memory is fuzzy on this, but I *think* AEP means Asia/Europe/Pacific, even though there will be also be a separate E model for Europe- never quite understood Sony's logic on this.

AEP units are 100-240 volts/ 50-60 hz. E units are voiced for European tastes. They were usually 220-240 V/50 Hz.
